WE LOVE YOU!

One of my favorite days of the year for so many reasons is, Valentine's Day! Approximately one billion Valentines are sent out worldwide each year according to estimates by the U.S. Greeting Card Association. That's second only to Christmas! Every year we are a part of that statistic and send out our handmade love notes to our family all over the country. Here are the cards we made this year.

This project was quick, easy for the entire family and ended up being quite cute!
Here's what you need:
Gray construction Paper
Red Acrylic Paint
White Acrylic Paint
Shelf Liner or Sponge
Paper Cutter
Scissors
Black Sharpie

Using shelf liner (I didn't have sponges) I cut out small hearts to use as stamps

Stamped hearts on cut and folded gray construction paper

I cut the paper down to 7"x 5" to be folded into a 3 1/2"x5" card

Stamped a banner in white and outlined with black sharpie.

Final - We Love You Valentine's Day Cards!

Wooden Forest Designs by Steve Blackerby (MY DAD)

I'm so excited and proud to announce that my Dad, Steve Blackerby, has his very first artist reception coming up next week at The Sunflower Studio in Wake Forest, NC on Friday, November 9th from 5 to 9pm.

Dad graduated from Auburn University with a design degree and has used his artistic eye and creativity throughout his life at work managing a team of creative marketers but MORE IMPORTANTLY... he has used these skills to make our family furniture, desks, shelves and all of life's little necessities throughout our childhood and even as adults. These pieces are not only handmade with love but they are gorgeous!

My Dad will be sharing his collection of handmade wooden spoons next week... that's right, he's moving his work out of the garage for all to see!

Each spoon was handcrafted in one of my favorite places, Dad's garage. He widdled, shaped and smoothed to the rhythm of great music and ended with a product that is functional and easy on the eyes. You won't be able to help yourself... you will have to pick one up!

You won't want to miss this!

Felt Camera Creation

My sweet friend made one of these felt camera cases a few months ago and I thought I would give it a go as well for a gift for my photographer friend, Millie Holloman. I knew it would not hold one of her incredible Nikon or Canon cameras but she would get a kick out of it and use it as a change purse or to hold gift cards. I used a thicker piece of felt for the body and softer felt and buttons for the interior and embellishments. I began by measuring and cutting out a pattern for the body, tracing that onto the thicker felt and cutting it out. I added on buttons and decor to make it look like a camera. I used the blanket stitch and embroidery thread to stitch around areas and add finished edges. I sewed on buttons and added a purple handle. It was a good first attempt... :) Being crafty is fun sometimes ehh?
